At our house we love popcorn. We also love ice-cream cones. What happens when you open that box of cones and half of them are broken? You make them into ice-cream cone popcorn! This recipe provides crunch, both savory and sweet flavors and is so easy to make.
Starting with our popcorn which we only make on the stovetop these days, we placed 1 tablespoon of canola oil in a deep pan and lined with popcorn kernels. Omitting salt because we knew we would be adding it later, we put the lid on the pan and placed the flame on medium. Within five minutes the popcorn was ready. During that wait time we put aside our broken cones, toasted some pecans and melted mini-chips in a microwave for about a minute. Mix the popcorn with the pecans and cones and drizzle with the melted chocolate. We sprinkled sea salt on top and popped in the fridge for five minutes or so until the chocolate set.
This is one of our favorite popcorn upgrades. Great for a snack or an alternative popcorn version during a family movie night.
